Some background on Cue Point - Mursal and Josh:
Mursal Saiq was born in Kabul, Afghanistan, but at only a few weeks old, her family were forced to evacuate their home and give it up to members of the Taliban during the 1990’s civil war. Mursal’s family made their way to Mumbai, India and then later to Hackney, London.
Together, they opened Cue Point Ldn, an inclusive catering company, named one of Time Outs best London restaurants in 2022. Mursal became increasingly frustrated with the systemic nature of the UK hospitality industry, which profits of a rich, vibrant food culture in which it gives little to no homage back. At Cue Point they merge British and Afghan flavours, specialising in smoked meats, to create inclusive, entirely unique and delicious recipes. Mursal is an avid public speaker and hospitality consultant specialising in food diversity and has also started Cue Point Kitchen, a social impact arm, which focuses on building the generational wealth of racialised individuals in the hospitality industry.
Josh Moroney started his culinary experience at the age of 15 with a catering apprenticeship. Josh has been immersed in the catering world, he went from Commis, CDP to Sous chef and then became head Chef and pitmaster of Smoke Stack UK. After working in multiple BBQ specialist catering companies, Josh was ready to start his own concept. Having become frustrated with the lack of inclusivity in the BBQ industry along with co-founder Mursal Saiq they created one of the UK's first Inclusive BBQ companies: Cue Point Ldn. As well as it’s ethos of inclusivity Cue Point has quickly made a name for itself as one of the best barbeque joints in London, thanks in huge part to the skill of co-founder Josh.
